Deputies with the Special Assignment Team (SAT) were patrolling Newhall when they observed several people standing alongside two vehicles with open alcoholic containers in a public parking lot.
As deputies approached the vehicles, they saw two males were passed out inside one of the vehicles. Upon contacting the males, they saw the handle of a firearm exposed inside the car.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies recovered two firearms and a baggie of methamphetamine among other contraband.
A male, identified to be a convicted felon, and female were arrested on several weapons and narcotics charges. A second male was arrested for being drunk in a public and a third male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Two males remain in custody at this time, the female was booked into the SCV Station and later released on bond, while another male was subsequently released on citation to later appear in court.
