Deputies patrolling Canyon Country observed a bicyclist without proper lighting equipment. As deputies conducted a traffic stop, the bicyclist attempted to run away as to avoid detention. While fleeing, he discarded a backpack he was carrying.
Deputies were able to detain the male and learned he was in possession of a firearm. A search of the backpack led to the recovery of the loaded, unregistered firearm. Methamphetamine was also found on his person.
The male, who is also a convicted felon, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and more. He was booked into the station and remains in custody at this time.
