National Fentanyl Awareness Day

#NationalFentanylAwarenessDay raises awareness to one of the most powerful man-made opioids already responsible for 21 deaths this year alone in Santa Clarita. To help bring further attention, CEO of Action Drug Rehabs, Cary Quashen, hosted a press conference at the Action Drug & Rehab Center in Saugus.

Guest speakers Congressman Mike Garcia, LASD Sheriff Alex Villanueva, SCV Sheriff’s Captain Justin Diez, LASD Narcotics Bureau Captain Brandon Dean, City of Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste and William S. Hart School District President Joe Messina discussed the importance of proactively working together to educate and warn the community about the effects of fentanyl use.

Fentanyl not only comes in pill form, but can also be found mixed in common drugs like methamphetamine, heroin and even marijuana. With a drug powerful enough to help surpass 100,000 reported overdose deaths in the U.S., now is the time to educate children on the dangers of drug use.

ACTION offers intensive outpatient care, as well as other forms of treatment for anyone dealing with drug or alcohol addiction. Here at the SCV Sheriff’s Station, our own Intervention Specialist, Robby Robinson, is also available to speak with those in need, and their family, to find the best program, counseling or rehab needed. Whether someone is seeking assistance with drug rehab, troubled youth, or mental health, he is available to talk by calling 661-607-2038.

Help save lives, spread the message. Fentanyl: Undetectable, powerful, deadly.
