Women's History Month Film Festival on March 19, 2022

Santa Clarita Public Library recently issued the following announcement.

Location: Old Town Newhall Library NE Community Room

Event Details:

Join us as we celebrate the strength, courage and tenacity of women during Women's History Month. Todays Film Festival selection is: "Queen of Katwe" 

This is the inspiring true story of chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi who grew up in the slum of Katwe in Kampala Uganda selling corn on the street to support her family. A misssionary, Robert Katendo teaches the children to play the game and young Phiona, who is fascinated by the strategies and concepts of chess, goes on to compete in several tournaments to become an International Chess Champion.
