The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced a 50-year federal prison sentence for a Guatemalan national who produced child pornography involving his 8-year-old nephew and his niece, who has special needs.

According to the DHS, Angel Emilio Rodriguez-Marroquin illegally entered the United States in 2024 and was released into the country by the prior administration before being arrested by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations in Los Angeles on Nov. 22, 2025. The charges involved the production of child sexual abuse material featuring his relatives. He is also subject to a parallel child exploitation investigation in Guatemala led by the same federal investigators.

ICE Houston reported arresting 414 criminal illegal aliens charged with or convicted of child sex offenses during the first year of the current administration, nearly doubling the 211 such arrests recorded in the final year of the prior administration.

Nearly 70% of ICE arrests involve illegal aliens charged or convicted of crimes in the United States, the DHS said. Operations have targeted individuals convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecent liberties with a child, and other serious offenses against minors.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security oversees border enforcement through Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
