On Saturday, Feb. 8, former Valencia High School standout Emma Seper’s current college team, the Akron Zips, won 2-0 in their NCAA Division I softball game against the USC Upstate Spartans.
The game took place at Cyrill Stadium. This was their second matchup against the Upstate Spartans this season.
The Zips’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. at Tarleton Softball Complex against Tarleton State Texans.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
These former Northwest Los Angeles County area high school athletes will be active in competitions the week of Monday, Sept. 8.
